Please also do a RAT test if possible.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"color: #000000; font-size: revert;\">Covid Positive<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Please isolate for 5 days<\/li>\n<li>Book an urgent appointment if you are eligible for <a href=\"https:\/\/pharmac.govt.nz\/news-and-resources\/covid19\/access-criteria-for-covid-19-medicines\/covid-antivirals\/access-criteria-assessment-tool\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">antiviral medication<\/span><\/a> or if you are unwell<\/li>\n<li>If you need a medical certificate then you can enter your test on <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/my.health.nz\/\">MyHealthRecord<\/a><\/span>\u00a0and use a screenshot of your result<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Covid Vaccine<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">These are now available at ProMed for eligible patients.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">If you are aged 5 years or over then you are eligible for a free primary COVID-19 vaccine.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">If you are aged 30 years or over then you are also eligible for free COVID-19 boosters every 6 months.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">Patients aged under 30 years at risk are also eligible for a free COVID-19 booster every 6 months.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">Patients considered at risk are similar to those who are eligible for a free flu vaccine.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">A non-funded COVID-19 vaccine is also expected soon for those who are not eligible.<br \/><br \/><b>Bookings<\/b><br \/>You can book the nurse on myindici or call reception on 03-3791112<br \/><br \/><b>Why have a COVID-19 Vaccination<\/b><br \/>COVID-19 is generally considered worse than influenza (the flu) due to higher rates of hospitalization, increased in-hospital mortality, and a higher risk of long-term complications.<br \/>Getting a COVID-19 vaccination is an important step to protect yourself, your family, and the community from the virus, with the goal of providing the best protection against the most severe outcomes of the disease.<br \/>Vaccination significantly lowers the risk of becoming seriously unwell or needing hospital care if you do catch the virus.<br \/>As the virus evolves into new strains, updated vaccines are designed to recognise and fight these current variants more effectively.<br \/>Studies indicate that vaccination can help reduce the chance of developing Long COVID, which causes long-term health issues and disability.<br \/>Evidence shows that the effectiveness of the initial vaccine doses can drop significantly after about six months.<br \/>So, regular boosters are recommended to maintain high levels of immunity, particularly as new variants emerge.<br \/><br \/><b>What you need to know\u00a0<\/b><br \/>Pfizer is the only COVID-19 vaccine available for use in New Zealand.<br \/>For more information visit <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/info.health.nz\/covid-19-vaccines\">info.health.nz<\/a><\/span><br \/><br \/><b>Protection from COVID-19<\/b><br \/>Vaccines protect your health and prevent disease by working with your body\u2019s natural defences.<br \/>The COVID-19 vaccine works by triggering your immune system to produce antibodies that work against the COVID-19 virus if you are exposed.<br \/><br \/><b>The vaccine cannot give you COVID-19.<\/b><br \/>Having a COVID-19 vaccine is an important step you can take to protect yourself from the effects of the virus.<br \/>It is important to keep up to date with your COVID-19 vaccinations to give you and your wh\u0101nau the best protection.<br \/><br \/><b>Are the vaccines safe?<\/b><br \/>Medsafe only grants consent for using a vaccine in Aotearoa New Zealand once they\u2019re satisfied it has met strict standards for safety.<br \/><br \/><b>Vaccination after COVID-19 infection<\/b><br \/>If you get COVID-19 before your next vaccine is due, you\u2019ll need to wait at least 6 months after you tested positive before getting another vaccine.<br \/><br \/><b>Can I get the vaccine if I\u2019m pregnant?<\/b><br \/>You can get the vaccine at any stage of your pregnancy.<br \/>You will pass some of your immunity to baby through the placenta.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">This means they have some protection from COVID-19 for the first few months of life.<br \/><br \/><b>Getting your vaccination<\/b><br \/>You will need to agree to be vaccinated. Remember, you can ask questions at any time.<br \/>A nurse or doctor will then give the vaccine in your upper arm. Some children may get the vaccine in their leg.<br \/>You will need to stay for at least 15 minutes so we can provide care if an allergic reaction were to happen.<br \/>This can be reduced to 5 minutes if certain conditions are met.<br \/><br \/><b>Giving consent for a vaccination<\/b><br \/>Before having your vaccine, the vaccinator will ask if you give consent.<br \/>You have the right to make an informed choice about your healthcare including immunisations.<br \/>You will receive a consent information sheet and post-vaccination information.<br \/>There will be time to have all your questions answered and you can also request an interpreter if you need one.<br \/><br \/><b>Please let your vaccinator know:<\/b><br \/>if you have had myocarditis or pericarditis previously<br \/>if you are unwell<br \/>if you are on blood-thinning medicines or have a bleeding disorder<br \/>if you have had a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to any vaccine, medicine or anything else<br \/>if you have recently had any other vaccinations within the last month.<br \/><br \/><b>Can I get other vaccinations at the same time?<\/b><br \/>You can get your COVID-19 vaccine at the same time as most other vaccines.<br \/>You can ask your vaccinator to check if you are up to date with your vaccinations, as well as your wh\u0101nau who may be attending your appointment with you.<br \/>Other vaccines which may be free for you include a flu vaccine, tetanus and whooping cough booster, shingles vaccine, measles vaccine, or HPV vaccine.<br \/>Ask your vaccinator if you can have these at your COVID-19 vaccination.<br \/><br \/><b>Recording your vaccination<\/b><br \/>Te Whatu Ora records vaccines administered on a centralised database.<br \/>This allows appropriate healthcare professionals to access your vaccine history and will help keep you up to date with your vaccinations.<br \/>To understand how we protect your privacy when recording vaccinations visit <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/tewhatuora.govt.nz\/AIR-privacy\">tewhatuora.govt.nz<\/a><\/span><br \/><br \/><b>After your COVID-19 vaccination<\/b><br \/>As with any vaccine, you may experience some side effects.<br \/>Most are mild, do not last long and happen in the first few days of having the vaccine.<br \/>Common side effects may include local injection site reactions (pain, redness, swelling and hardening), headache, feeling tired, nausea and chills.<br \/>Myocarditis and pericarditis are conditions which are usually caused by viral infections, but they are also very rare side effects of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine.\u00a0<br \/>If you have any concerns about your symptoms after your vaccine, talk to your doctor, practice nurse or pharmacist, or call Healthline on 0800 611 116 anytime to get advice.<br \/>If you have an immediate concern about your safety, call 111, and make sure you tell them you\u2019ve had a recent COVID-19 vaccination so they can assess you properly.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For health &amp; safety we ask people with respiratory infection symptoms to remain in the car park or stay at home.
